Zelestra marks full operations at the new 435 MWdc Gorbea solar plant in India

Hon’ble Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister of New and Renewable Energy, led the official celebration of the new plant. The project will generate 755 GWh of clean energy per year, backed by a 25-year PPA with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Delivered in under 8 months, the 435 MWdc project in Rajasthan, India, supported 800+ jobs in construction.

Zelestra, a global, customer-focused, multi-technology, renewable energy company was joined on Saturday 19th July by Hon’ble Minister Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, to mark the full commercial operations of the 435 MWdc Gorbea solar project in the state of Rajasthan, India.

Delivered in under 8 months, the project was enabled by a 25-year PPA signed with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Gorbea will generate 755 GWh of clean energy annually, powering the equivalent of 128,000 Indian households.

The event witnessed the presence of District Collector Ms. Shweta Chauhan, Superintendent of Police Ms. Pooja Awana, and local elected representatives, senior administrative officers, and a large number of villagers.

In his address, the Union Minister stated that this project would significantly boost the country’s renewable energy production and strengthen Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Harit Kranti” initiative. He termed this project a “model project” for the energy sector in Rajasthan.

He further emphasized the immense potential for renewable energy in Rajasthan, stating that “the sunlight here is not just light, but a ray of hope and self-reliance.” The Minister also directed that local youth be given priority in employment opportunities generated by the project.

At the inauguration, he congratulated Zelestra officials while advocating for increased corporate R&D spending. He also promoted solar energy adoption and highlighted the Pradhanmantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana to the audience.
